The Position

Verve is seeking an In Vivo/In Vitro Research Associate to join its fast-growing scientific team.  A successful candidate will be self-motivated and technically competent and focused on developing molecular therapies to address genetic risk factors for cardiovascular disease. This individual will be required to plan and perform in vivo studies to advance Verves preclinical research. The candidate should have hands-on experience with in vivo procedures in mice & rats incl. multiple routes of dose administration (Intravenous, retro orbital and oral), blood collection, anesthesia, dissection techniques and tissue collection. This role requires proficiency to develop and run quantitative or semi-quantitative assays (ELISA, PCR) for the analysis of collected samples. The candidate should be familiar with GraphPad Prism or Sigmaplot and Microsoft Office suite in to analyze large data sets and interpret and summarize the results.


Job Responsibilities

  • Perform in vivo studies for efficacy, MOA elucidation, PK/PD studies and technology evaluations
  • Design, conduct, and analyze data from in vivo pharmacology studies
  • Harvest blood and tissues, coordinate storage, transport, and analysis of samples
  • Develop and run quantitative or semi-quantitative assays for the analysis of collected samples
  • Analyze large data sets, interpret and present data and research findings in internal team meetings
  • Write, troubleshoot, and optimize in vivo study and IACUC protocols
  • Ensure appropriate use of animals in research (3R) and compliance with all regulatory requirements
  • Executes studies using good documentation practices
  • Contribute to regulatory reports and publications


Qualifications

  • Knowledge and appreciation of in vivo drug testing for preclinical studies
  • Hands-on experience with in vivo procedures in rodents incl. multiple routes of dose administration (IV, IP, SC, IM), blood collection, anesthesia, dissection techniques and tissue collection
  • Hands-on experience with ex vivo and in vitro assay techniques (Western blot, ELISA, qRT-PCR, histology, IHC, and microscopy)
  • Familiarity with GraphPad Prism or Sigmaplot and Microsoft Office suite
  • BS in biology, biochemistry, pharmacology, animal sciences or related disciplines
  • 2-3 years’ experience in laboratory-based industrial or academic pharmaceutical setting
